PROJECT MEETINGS

KICK-OFF-MEETING

The kick-off meeting of the project was held between the 15th-16th of January 2020 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. During this event, the 7 participants had a chance to meet face-to-face, to know each other better and so to strengthen their cooperation; to agree on the most important plans and rules staying at the core of the project.

INTERIM MEETING

The second meeting took place in Prague from August 30-31, 2021. The partners discussed the next training events and activities; analysed the results of the previous training events; analysed the status of the project from an administrative and financial point of view and discussed the interim project evaluation report. At the end of this meeting, the partners prepared a summary of the coming projects with an informative video. Take a look at it here.

FINAL MEETING

The last meeting of the project was held in Malta on the 7 and 8 of October 2021.

The goals of the final meeting were to evaluate the state of the project activities, to understand the final reporting documents/procedures & transmit the novelties in this sense based on an audit experience of the coordinator, to discuss all issues regarding the final report, to evaluate the financial state of art of the project, and to plan the activities for the last 3 project months. The meeting also resulted in a second video to present the project to the wide audience.

STAFF TRAINING EVENTS

Classroom Management in adult education – Online Training

The project was supposed to have 2 training events by September 2020, but because of the Corona-19 outbreak, the partner institutions were not able to hold them and decided to postpone the dates.

So the first training event of the project was done between the 12th-16th of October 2020, in virtual space, being hosted by Studium Modern Language Center.

Apps and online resources for creating audiovisual materials for the classroom & leadership skills for teachers – Online Training

The second training was held between the 14th-18th of December 2020, being hosted by Bridge Language Study House. The event focused on learning about tools that instructors could use in order to help them develop soft skills, like leadership. The participants also practiced using tools like Mentimeter, Kahoot, Padlet, StudyStack, EdPuzzle, EducaPlay, and Quizizz that will all help with student engagement. A third course-session was dedicated to the Movie-making method, as a great way of innoating the language courses.

CLIL – Content Language Integrated Learning – Hybrid training

In this hybrid workshop, the participants first discussed on storytelling for the content and language integrated learning method (CLIL). They talked about this interesting instructional tool, then made their own lesson plans. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with other educators interested in innovative teaching approaches.

The event was organised between 24-28 May 2021 by Future Focus Ltd. in Floriana, Malta.

Social and Emotional Learning in Education – Hybrid training

The participants and facilitators were all happy to engage in this workshop about the valuable topic of social and emotional learning. The event was held between 30 August – 3 September 2021 by ITC International in Prague. Here are the topics that were discussed in this training:

  • identifying emotions
  • self-awareness in school
  • appreciation of diversity
  • self-management
  • stress management
  • motivation
  • relationship skills
  • non-violent communication
  • responsible decision making
  • ethical responsibility.

Video Tutorials and the Inverted Classroom – Hybrid Training

In this workshop the participants discussed the valuable teaching approach of the inverted classroom. In addition to this, video tutorials, especially in the context of the inverted classroom, were created during the workshop. The participants learned how to make videos using the tool Screencast-o-matic. Lastly, they learned how to enhance their video content using tools like Canva and Prezi. Over the course of the week, they made their own videos and shared them with one another.

The training was hosted by Iberika Sprachschule in Berlin, Germany, between 13-17 September 2021.

Digital Safeness, Communication, Problem Solving and team building in adult education

The final training of this project was full of important conversations about responsible and informed use of digital resources for educators. Here are the interesting topics covered in the last workshop.

The event was organised by Progeu, in Rome, Italy, between 15-19 November 2021.

OPEN WORKSHOPS

In order to exploit the results of the staff training events outside of the partnership, the team provided a series of 7 free online workshops in the following topics:

  1. Leadership in Education
    Date: 12 February 2021
    Objectives: This workshop was meant to equip participants with basic leadership behaviors any person working in education institutions should possess. More exactly, participants developed a better knowledge of what leadership skills are in general; differentiate between Leadership and Management; reflect on what the qualities of an efficient leader are; share best practices of leadership behavior in education; find out what their own skills are as a leader in education.
    Gained learning outcomes: Define what leadership is; define what is leadership in education is; differentiate between Leadership vs. Management; define the qualities of an efficient leader; define leadership behavior in education; do a SWOT Analysis and assess themselves as leaders in education.
  2. Online tools for the classroom
    Date: 16 February 2021
    Objectives of the workshop: spicing up the language lessons with online tools making the learning process much easy and more fun;
    Gained learning outcomes: know how to use the following tools: Padlet, Educaplay and Socrative;
  3. Classroom management
    Date: 16.03.2021
    Objectives: Icebreakers – what it is and how to use them, types of icebreakers; Finding things in common – communication in groups of strangers; Setting the goals (personal and in groups); How to use the knowledge about the brain in teaching (e.g. left and right hemisphere traits); Styles of learning- visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, olfactory, gustatory (VAKOG); Communication basis in teaching- empathy, rapport, positive; Obstacles on a path of the successful teaching – dissociation & conflict; How to overcome the difficulties in teaching students;
    Gained learning outcomes: different types of icebreakers; mindmaps; VAKOG – styles of learning (visual, auditory, kineasthetic, olfactory, gustatory); communication basis: empathy, rapport, positive, dealing with dissociation (practical exercises); solving the conflict;
  4. The Inverted Classroom Approach
    Date: 18 March 2021
    Objectives: understand the key components of the inverted classroom method; learn how and when to use this method; create own inverted classroom lesson plans;
    Gained learning outcomes: learn the theory and how/when to apply the inverted classroom approach; the participants learned how to use screensomatic and h5p to create tutorials and interactive materials for their inverted classroom lessons; practice creating a lesson plan for an inverted classroom lesson;
  5. CLIL in the Classroom
    Date: 30 March 2021
    Objectives: show the benefits of using the CLIL methodology in classrooms in both state schools and private language schools; help teachers combine their communicative teaching approach with the CLIL methodology.
    Gained learning outcomes: An introduction to CLIL in the classroom; Implementing CLIL; Scaffolding content and language learning; Consolidating and differentiating learning;
  6. Safe and cooperative interactions for teaching
    Date: 26 April 2021
    Objectives of the workshop: introduce teachers and trainers to key concepts and good practices for using the web safely and creating fruitful and cooperative relationships in the classroom.
    At the end of the workshop, the learners learned: the guidelines on digital security and the legal basis for copyright and privacy rules in Europe; the basic assumptions for defining a digital communication strategy; the critical issues underlying the need to develop media literacy; the key concepts underlying sociological theories that inspire team building and problem solving techniques and activities.
  7. Emotional and social intelligence
    Date: 25 October 2021
    Objectives of the workshop: participants learned what social and emotional skills include, how we acquire these skills and which areas of our life they affect; participants discuss and practice selected specific areas of social and emotional skills;
    Gained learning outcomes: participants learned what social and emotional skills include, and which areas of our life they affect; participants explored what are different types of emotions and how to use reflection; participants learned stress and how it can be managed; participants learned about the PERMA model and how it can be used in social and emotional skills development.

Within these events, we engaged a total of 78 participants virtually. The impact analysis of the event series shows very good mid-and-long term results of these events on the participants!
